My brother Jim Mader and I witnessed the victory vs Oregon State on Thursday night. Minnesota athltes starting on the offensive side of the ball for the football team are Jonah Pirsig (Blue Earth, OL) and Mitch Leidner (Lakeville, QB). On defense, Andrew Steltner (Owatonna, DL) and Adekunle Ayinde (Blaine, CB) have claimed starting positions.
The women’s cross country team had an intrasquad meet with some impressive results on the challenging U of M golf course. Madeline Strandemo took the title followed by true freshmen twins Megan and Bethany Hasz of Alexandria. Other Minnesota athletes placing high or on the team include Bailey Ness (Woodbury, 4th), Danielle Anderson (Eagan, 5th), and Courtney Alama (Annandale, 6th). Other contributors to the team are Titania Markland, Laura Werking, Naomi Ollila (Apple Valley), Violet Weibel, and Ellen Snyder, who showed dramatic improvement from her inaugural run last season.
